Just as one is forbidden to eat before davening (see last weeks Halacha) so too is one forbidden to drink before davening.
This prohibition applies to most beverages. However one is permitted to drink water before davening. Additionally one is permitted to drink plain tea or coffee. Furthermore, many poskim permit one to add sugar and even a small amount of milk to the coffee especially if having the drink will enhance one’s concentration during davening. However, even if one is having coffee/tea before davening he should refrain from drinking together with friends etc. Furthermore, one should at least say Krias Shema before having the coffee. (Shulchan Aruch Or”Ch 89:3, Mishna Berurah 22, Laws of Daily Living pg 153-155) Clarification of last week’s Halacha– Although the prohibition to eat begins 1/2 hour before dawn (when eating bread, etc) if one had begun eating before that time he need not stop, but rather may finish his meal even within 1/2 hour of dawn.
